Data We Collect

Calculator Inputs

All calculator inputs (salary, property price, loan amount, etc.) are processed entirely in your browser. No financial data is sent to our servers or stored anywhere. Your calculations happen locally on your device.

Newsletter Email

We collect your email address when you voluntarily subscribe to “The Money Decision” newsletter. Subscription requires your explicit consent via a checkbox. This is the only personal data we collect directly.

Analytics Data

We use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site, subject to your cookie consent. Google Analytics collects anonymized usage data including:

Cross-Border Data Transfers

We ensure that such transfers comply with the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 and any notifications issued by the Central Government regarding permissible jurisdictions. Our service providers maintain industry-standard security certifications (SOC 2, ISO 27001) and are contractually obligated to protect your data.

Data Retention

We retain your email address for as long as you remain subscribed to our newsletter. You may unsubscribe at any time using the link in each email, after which your email will be deleted from our mailing list within 30 days. Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months, after which it is automatically deleted.

What We Do NOT Collect

• No financial data from calculator inputs
• No credit card or bank information
• No personal identification numbers (PAN, Aadhaar)
• No cookies for ad targeting
• No data shared with third-party advertisers

Data Security

The site is served over HTTPS with TLS encryption. Newsletter subscriber data is stored in Supabase with row-level security (RLS) policies that restrict access. We follow industry-standard security practices to protect the limited personal data we collect.

Data Breach Notification

In the event of a personal data breach that is likely to cause harm to Data Principals, we will:

• Notify the Data Protection Board of India within 72 hours of becoming aware of the breach, as required under Section 8(6) of the DPDP Act, 2023.
• Notify affected Data Principals (users) without unreasonable delay, including the nature of the breach, data involved, and remedial actions taken.
• Take immediate steps to contain the breach, investigate its cause, and implement measures to prevent recurrence.

Your Rights (DPDP Act 2023)

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, you have the following rights:

• Right to Access: You may request information about what personal data we hold about you.
• Right to Correction: You may request correction of any inaccurate personal data.
• Right to Erasure: You may request deletion of your personal data at any time.
• Right to Nominate: You may nominate another individual to exercise your rights in case of death or incapacity.
• Right to Grievance Redressal: You may raise a grievance with our Data Protection Officer (details below). If unresolved, you may approach the Data Protection Board of India.
• Right to Withdraw Consent: You may withdraw your consent for newsletter emails (via unsubscribe link) or analytics cookies (via browser settings) at any time. Withdrawal does not affect the lawfulness of processing done before withdrawal.

Children's Data

This website is not intended for individuals under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. Our newsletter subscription form does not include an age verification mechanism, as the only personal data collected is an email address for adults who voluntarily subscribe.

If we become aware that a minor has subscribed to our newsletter, we will promptly delete their email address. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal data to us, please contact our Data Protection Officer at oi.allepmok@opd and we will take steps to delete the information.
